Landscape Lighting Design & Consultation Process

“The Design and Installation of an Effective and Environmentally Friendly Landscape Lighting Design Will… Direct Light Where You Want it and Not Where You Don’t Want it”
The first step in the process is to sit down with our clients and showcase the various types of Landscape and Architectural Lighting Fixtures (and there are many) and the multitude ofLandscape Lighting Techniques and Effects (and there are many of those too) that we are able to incorporate into every project we undertake.
During this phase of the process we take the time to educate our clients with respect to the quality of the products we supply and install, any unique features they have and what sets The Edmonton Landscape Lighting Company apart from other Landscape Lighting Contractors.
This is an extremely important step in the process, and one that quite often gets overlooked or by-passed altogether.
After we have taken the necessary time to educate our clients on the various products and lighting techniques that are available, we are then in a position to discuss their individual Landscape and Architectural Lighting requirements in more detail and create a “Conceptual Landscape & Architectural Lighting Design”.
As soon as our client has accepted the Conceptual Landscape Lighting Design, we are ready to move forward with a “Detailed Landscape & Architectural Lighting Layout Plan”. This process will essentially create a blueprint of specific areas and landscape features such as trees, shrubs, hardscapes (such as garden walls and steps), unique features and structural surfaces (such as houses and gazebos) that will be illuminated. It will also include specific Light Fixtures that will be utilized in order to create the Lighting Effects we are looking to achieve.
Once the Detailed Landscape and Architectural Lighting Plan has been finalized, we then have enough information to compile an accurate “Bill of Materials” for the project. This will include, but is not necessarily limited to; the number and type of Light Fixtures, Transformers/Controllers, Wire, Accessories and Installation Supplies that will be required in order to complete the project. By creating a detailed Bill of Materials (BOM), it will also assist us with preparing a Formal Proposal, and one that captures the entire scope of work.
Once the Formal Proposal has been prepared we will set up a time to meet with our client to review the proposal. At The Edmonton Landscape Lighting Company, we believe in providing our clients with “complete transparency” and “full disclosure”. Unlike some contractors, we do not believe in hiding anything. If there is something we have not included for in the scope of work, we will bring that to our client’s attention. Our proposals are packed full of detail with respect to all aspects of the project.
In an extended effort to assist our clients with their review and selection of a Landscape Lighting Contractor, we elected to write an article titled 9 Essential Considerations When Hiring an Edmonton Landscape Lighting Contractor We also created a Contractor Evaluation Checklist (PDF) to help our clients with the evaluation process. Some items are obvious, but there are some that are not.
By incorporating the key elements of our 9 Essential Considerations When Hiring an Edmonton Landscape Lighting Contractor article into all of our Landscape Lighting Design proposals, we strongly believe that it sets us apart from the competition and sets the stage for a positive relationship. All of which result in a Win, Win for all stakeholders involved!
We look forward to working with you on your project!
